The Richest Woman in Africa is fighting to cushion windows, and orphans from the effect of the coronavirus pandemic.

Folorunsho Alakija is the main shareholder of The Rose of Sharon Group. She has a net worth of over $1.5 billion from her various ventures. Her name is Folorunsho Alakija.

The billionaire has donated N1 billion for the fight against coronavirus in Nigeria. At the same time, she donated N25,000 to each of her foundation’s registered widows and orphans in the six geopolitical zones in her country. She donated the money to cushion the effect of the coronavirus pandemic on the beneficiaries.

According to Forbes Magazine, she is the richest woman in Africa. Born in Logos Nigeria, where she still decided, she has massive business holdings.

Married with four children, Folorunsho is the executive vice chairwoman of hugely successful Famfa Oil.

She started off her career as a secretary in 1975. Later on, she switched to banking and, after some years left to start her own business. Her first business was Supreme Stitches, a tailoring company.

Still keeping her fashion business, she started a joint venture for oil exploration, and the rest is history.

The Africa CEO Forum describes Mrs Alakija as a dynamic Nigerian businesswoman and philanthropist. The forum notes that she oversees several business endeavours and she has served Nigeria well, as a member of several committees.

“She is an acclaimed public speaker and the first female to be appointed as Chancellor of a public university in Africa. She is a prolific writer and has authored several inspirational books, including her autobiography. She is a board member of the Commonwealth Business Forum. She is a recipient of many awards in various capacities both locally and internationally,” notes the forum
